Meet Deborah from Deborah's haakwerk

It’s great to have you stop by Deborah's Crochet! My name is Deborah; I’m 31 years old and live in the charming town of Dinxperlo. Crochet has become an important part of my life. What started out of curiosity—sparked by a few YouTube videos—has grown into a creative hobby that constantly offers me new challenges.

How it started

My crochet journey actually began quite simply: out of curiosity, I decided to watch a few YouTube videos on the subject. I started with the basic stitches and tried to figure out how it all worked, step by step. I soon got hooked. I discovered that I really enjoyed challenging myself further and further; the more difficult the pattern, the greater the challenge—and the more fun I had trying it out. Of course, not everything went right at first. Sometimes I had to unravel a piece two or three times, and there were moments when I wondered what I had gotten myself into. But the sense of satisfaction when I finally succeeded was immense. That feeling of "Yes, I did it!" kept me wanting to try new projects again and again.

From crocheting to designing

Over time, crochet became much more than just a hobby for me. It serves as a creative outlet and a way to constantly challenge myself—simply enjoying the process of working with yarn and a hook, developing ideas, and seeing if I can actually bring to life what I’ve envisioned. Eventually, I started developing my own ideas. I discovered how rewarding it is not just to follow existing patterns, but to come up with something original and create a pattern for it myself. I now design my own crochet patterns and love being able to share them with others. The thought of someone working on one of my designs and adding their own personal touch makes it extra special for me. What started with a few YouTube videos and a bit of curiosity has grown into *Deborah's Haakwerk*—a place where I can share my creativity, my designs, and, above all, my love for crochet with fellow enthusiasts. And, of course, I’m far from running out of challenges; I still have plenty of ideas in my head waiting to be brought to life with a crochet hook and a ball of yarn.
